The Protection of Human Rights (Amendment) Bill, 2019 was discussed and passed in Lok Sabha today.  The Bill amends the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993.  The Act provides for a National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), State Human Rights Commissions (SHRC), as well as Human Rights Courts.

Three Bills were introduced in Lok Sabha today. These include the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Bill, the Banning of Unregulated Deposit Schemes Bill, and Right to Information ( Amendment) Bill.

We have written a short explainer on Right to Information (Amendment) Bill that amends the RTI bill of 2005. You can read the blog here to understand its provisions and how it amends the 2005 Bill.
