Parliament met for the 24th Sitting of the Budget Session today.
In Lok Sabha, the Constitution (Scheduled Castes) Orders (Amendment) Bill, 2014 and the Repealing and Amending Bill, 2014 were introduced. The Repealing and Amending Bill is updating the statute books to remove obsolete laws.
The Lok Sabha then undertook the Railways (Amendment) Bill, 2014 for
consideration and passing. The Bill seeks to prevent people from filing
multiple claims from the Railways for the same accident and it also
defines accidental falling to exclude cases of negligence on part of the

After Members said that there were several issues in the Railways
(Amendment) Bill that needed careful examination, the government agreed
to refer the Bill to a Parliamentary Standing Committee for
consideration.
The Apprentices (Amendment) Bill, 2014 was then moved for consideration and passing, but was not discussed today. A summary of the Bill can be seen here.
Rajya Sabha today undertook a discussion on the working of the Ministry
of Home Affairs, which was underway at the time of sending this diary.
9 new Bills have been introduced in Lok Sabha as of today. 3 Bills have been passed by both Houses and one only by Lok Sabha.
