The Central Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2021

  • The Central Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2021 was introduced in Lok Sabha on August 5, 2021.  It amends the Central Universities Act, 2009.  The 2009 Act provides for the establishment of Central Universities for teaching and research in various states.  These states include: (i) Andhra Pradesh, (ii) Bihar, (iii) Kerala, and (iv) Haryana.  The 2021 Bill provides for the establishment of the Sindhu Central University in the union territory of Ladakh.
