Profile of the 11th Meghalaya Legislative Assembly

 The results of the elections to the 11th Meghalaya Legislative Assembly were declared on March 2, 2023. There are 60 assembly seats in the state.  In this note, we analyse data on the profile of the incoming Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and compare it with the previous Assembly.

 NPP has the highest share with 26 seats; 57% MLAs re-elected from same constituency

Note: Due to the death of a candidate, elections were adjourned in one constituency in both 2018 (William Nagar) and 2023 (Sohiong).  

  • 34 candidates (57%) were re-elected to this Assembly.  All of them were re-elected from their old constituency.
