The Damodar Valley Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2007 was introduced in the Lok Sabha on Lok Sabha on May 04, 2007. It was referred to the Standing Committee on Energy, which submitted its report on September 7, 2007.

The Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) was constituted under the Damodar Valley Corporation Act, 1948 with the authority for flood control, irrigation, power generation and integrated development of the Damodar River Valley. According to the Act, the corporation consists of a Chairman and two other members appointed by the central government after consultation with the state governments.
- The Bill seeks to amend the Principal Act to allow the corporation to consist of (a) a Chairman; (b) a member (technical), and a member (finance); (c) one representative from the central government; (d) one representative each from the state governments of Jharkhand and West Bengal; (e) three independent experts (one each from the fields of irrigation, water supply and generation or transmission of electricity).

The central government representative and the three independent experts shall be appointed by the central government. The Chairman and other members shall be appointed by the central government in consultation with the state government.

The Chairman, member (technical) and member (finance) shall be whole-time; the other members shall be part-time.

The Standing Committee supported the Bill and added that the Secretary of DVC should also be made into a full-time member as recommended by the Administrative Staff College of India in its report on restructuring DVC.
