M R Madhavan

Madhavan co-founded PRS and is currently its President.

Prior to starting PRS, Madhavan was based in Singapore covering currency and interest rate markets as Principal and Senior Strategist for the Asia region for Bank of America. He started his career with ICICI Securities in Mumbai in the equity research group and later headed interest rates research. He is a Fellow (doctorate) from IIM Calcutta, MBA from IIM Calcutta and holds a B. Tech degree from IIT Madras. In 2010, Madhavan was selected as a Chevening Gurukul Scholar at the London School of Economics.

Chakshu Roy

Chakshu heads the legislative and civic engagement initiatives at PRS.

He is an expert on the rules and procedures of Parliament and its functioning. He anchors programs to strengthen the capacity of legislators at the centre and state level. He supports civil society organisations to engage with legislatures and has trained journalist groups about tracking the functioning of Parliament and State Vidhan Sabhas. He has also been involved in setting up the first comprehensive database of state legislation in the country. He writes regularly on legislative issues and about the strengthening of the institution of Parliament. Chakshu is an IVLP and INK Fellow and holds a bachelor’s degrees in Commerce and Law from Delhi University.

Prachee Mishra

Prachee is Head of Research.

At PRS she published research focussed on the infrastructure sectors including railways, transport and land related matters. Previously, she has worked with the New York City - Department of Transportation, the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy at Cambridge, US, and the NYU Wagner School of Public Service conducting research on various urban planning issues. Prior to that, Prachee worked in Mumbai as an architect. She holds a Masters degree in Urban Planning from New York University, US and a Bachelors degree in Architecture from NIT Bhopal.

Alaya Purewal

Alaya is an Analyst on the research team.

She holds an MPhil in Politics and International Studies from the University of Cambridge and a BA in Politics and Government from Sciences Po, Paris. Before PRS, she worked as a researcher in the Digital Verification Corps at Amnesty International in the University of Cambridge.

Analie Dutta Choudhury

Analie is a Programme Associate in the outreach team.

Analie holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Ashoka University. Prior to joining PRS, she was a part of the founding team of TrailBlazHer, an initiative to promote STEM for women and young girls.

Arpita Mallick

Arpita is an Analyst in the research team.

Arpita holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering from SRM University, Chennai. Before PRS, she worked as a data engineer at Fractal Analytics. During this time she also completed the Policy In Action Fellowship at Young Leaders for Active Citizenship (YLAC).

Dhruv Taware

Dhruv is a Programme Associate in the outreach team.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in International Studies and History from Simon Fraser University, Canada. He has previously worked as a Staff Writer at Statecraft Global Affairs Daily, and interned at Carnegie India, and Indian Express Pune.

Harish Chandra

Harish is Admin and IT Assistant to the PRS team

He is responsible for IT Technical Support, Data Scrapping and Content updation on PRS websites. Harish holds Masters degrees in Computer Application from IGNOU, New Delhi.

Hemlata Bisht

Hema is Administrative Assistant to the PRS team

She is responsible for content updation on the Laws of India and PRS websites, state laws data compilation and assisting the PRS team in administrative functions. She has worked with BSA Logistics Company in the customer care division and Solution-Digitas as a Quality Analyst. Hema holds Bachelors degrees in Arts from Delhi University and a Diploma in Office Management from the YMCA, New Delhi.

Itika Singh

Itika is a Programme Manager in the Citizen Outreach team.

She holds a Bachelors (Honours) degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from University of Delhi. She has interned with Doordarshan, NDTV and Youth Ki Awaaz. Her sound design "Lonely Lives" was screened at the 11th IAWRT Asian Women's Film Festival.

Kusum Malik

Head - Finance and Admin

Kusum heads the Administration and Finance department. Previously she was focusing on tracking the work done by legislators and legislatures; and overseeing the translation of PRS research products. In addition, she was in charge of content management of PRS websites. She has earlier worked with the Centre for Policy Research supporting the work of different research teams. Kusum holds Bachelors degrees in Commerce from Delhi University and Diploma in Financial Management and Accountability from FMSF- Tata Institute of Social Sciences.

Manas Gubbi

Manas is a Programme Manager responsible for outreach to state legislators.

He has completed the postgraduate program in Public Policy, Design and Management from the Indian School of Public Policy, New Delhi. Prior to that, he worked with the Mumbai-based Praja Foundation as an Elected Representative Fellow. He holds a Masters degree in Politics from University of Mumbai and a Bachelors in Political Science from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai.

Mandvi Gaur

Mandvi is an Analyst in the Research team.

Mandvi graduated from the National Law University Jodhpur in 2021. After graduation, she worked as a Law Officer at the Wildlife Conservation Society- India, and later as a Policy Coordinator at the Coexistence Consortium. She has experience of working on wildlife crime research studies, human- elephant conflict mitigation strategies, and other law and policy related projects in wildlife conservation. During her legal studies, she worked in various internship programmes related to environmental law and policy.

Mitisha Sharma

Mitisha is Manager, LAMP Fellowship.

She holds a Bachelor's degree in Physics from University of Delhi and a Post-Graduate Diploma in English Journalism from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication. Prior to joining PRS, she worked as a sub-editor for news startups Newzera and Glance.

Niranjana Menon

Niranjana is an Analyst on the research team.

Niranjana holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, and Statistics from Christ University, Bengaluru, and a Master's in Pure Mathematics from Imperial College, London. Previously, she worked in the communications and research team at Mission Better Tomorrow, a non-profit based out of Kerala.

Priyadarshini Jain

Priyadarshini is an analyst in the research team.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Chandigarh University and a Master’s degree in Urban Design from CEPT University, Ahmedabad. She has worked as an intern for Safer Access to School Project, Mumbai and as an architect intern in the urban learning program with Ujjain SmartCity Ltd.

Pratinav Damani

Pratinav is an Associate Analyst on the research team.

He holds an undergraduate degree in Management with a minor in Retail Studies from Santa Clara University, USA. Prior to PRS, he did an internship at an investment firm in Mumbai analysing private equity and real estate.

Rajlakshmi Das

Rajlakshmi is a programme associate in the Citizen Outreach team.

Rajlakshmi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design from the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Mumbai. During her time at NIFT, she worked on a website called TypedTales, in collaboration with Special Olympics Bharat which expedites social learning in intellectually disabled children. She has also been part of a crafts-based research project to document Paithani handloom with the active support from the Ministry ofTextiles, Office of Development Commissioner (Handlooms), and Office of Development Commissioner (Handicrafts). Previously, she interned in the Communications and Outreach team at Young Leaders for Active Citizenship (YLAC).

Rutvik Upadhyaya

Rutvik is an Analyst on the Research Team. 

He holds an M.A. in Development Studies from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Hyderabad, and a B.A (Hons) Liberal Arts from the Symbiosis School for Liberal Arts, Pune.  Before joining PRS, he worked on various research projects with the Centre of Regional Research and Sustainability Studies, Prof. Khaliq Parkar at NMIMS, Mumbai, and GramHeet in Maharashtra.

Saket Surya

Saket is Deputy Head of Research.

Saket holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science & Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Agartala. Prior to joining PRS, he worked as an IT Consultant with Oracle Financial Services Software Limited in Mumbai.

Simranjyot Kaur

Simranjyot is a Programme Officer responsible for outreach to state legislators.

She has a B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) degree from the National Law School of India University, Bangalore.  She has previously worked as a Research Associate and Advocate with the Centre for Civil Society, New Delhi, and published on themes related to livelihoods, governance, and education.

Tanvi Vipra

Tanvi is an Analyst in the research team.

Tanvi holds a Bachelors in Economics from Ramjas College, University of Delhi. She has previously interned with the late Dr. Deb Kusum Das for a project on Indian pharmaceuticals with the International Food Policy Research Institute. Prior to that she interned at Internet Freedom Foundation. She has also worked on a documentary film on urban development for the Sheffield DocFest, an international film festival.

Tushar Chakrabarty

Tushar is a Senior Analyst in the research team.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Delhi, and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication from Xavier Institute of Communications, Mumbai. Previously, he has worked for the news channel ET NOW, followed by a three-year stint at Informist Media where he covered banking and disinvestment.
