Budget Session: January 31, 2024 – February 9, 2024

Highlights

  • The Budget Session of Parliament is scheduled to be held between January 31, 2024 and February 9, 2024.  There will be a total of eight sittings.

  • During this session, the Interim Union Budget for 2024-25 will be discussed and voted upon, along with the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address to Parliament.  In addition, the Interim Budget for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for 2024-25 will also be discussed and voted upon.

  • Currently, 26 Bills are pending in Parliament.  Three Bills have been listed for introduction, consideration and passing (including the Finance Bill, 2024).  These are listed below.

The Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Amendment Bill, 2024

Amends the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 to decriminalise provisions related to minor violations, and support ease of doing business

The Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill, 2024

Seeks to bring greater transparency, fairness, and credibility to public examination systems
