Budget Session – Day 17 : Mar 18th, 2015
Parliament met for its seventeenth sitting today.
Lok Sabha passed the the Warehousing Corporations (Amendment) Bill, 2015. The Bill seeks to do away with the Central Government's responsibility of being a financial guarantor to the central warehousing corporation.
The lower house also passed the The Repealing and Amending Bill, 2014. The Bill seeks to repeal those enactments which have ceased to be in force or have become obsolete.
A discussion on the agrarian crisis in the country began in Lok Sabhatoday. The discussion did not conclude and is likely to be taken up tomorrow.
Select Committees examining the Coal Mines (Special Provisions) Bill and the Mines and Minerals Bill submitted their reports in Rajya Sabha. Both the bills replace ordinances and must be passed by Parliament before it breaks for recess such that the ordinances do not lapse.
Rajya Sabha today began discussion on the Union Budget. A total of twenty MPs participated in the debate.
