Lok Sabha passed the Constitution Scheduled Castes Order Bill. The Bill modifies the list of Scheduled Castes in respect of Odisha.
After the passage of the Bill, the Lower House took up Private Member Business.
In Rajya Sabha, general discussion on the Union Budget concluded and the Minister of Finance replied.
The Minister of Law and Justice, Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad also replied to the debate in the Upper House on electoral reforms. During the debate, members highlighted several issues such as paid news, security of EVMs, holding of simultaneous elections, political funding etc. In his reply, the Minister addressed some of these issues. Weighing in on the issue of ensuring the security of EVMs, the Minister stated that the government shall assist the ECI in introducing VVPAT (Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail) in a phased manner. Further he added that the idea of simultaneous elections should be debated and consensus shall have to be built.
The Upper House also took up discussion on the working of the Ministry of Railways.
