The National Investigation Agency (Amendment) Bill, 2019 was passed in Rajya Sabha today. The Bill amends 2008 Act to allow NIA to investigate offences such as human trafficking and cyber terrorism. In addition, officers of the NIA will have the power to investigate scheduled offences committed outside India, subject to international treaties and domestic laws of other countries. It was passed by Lok Sabha this week on July 15, 2019.
A Motion to call attention to the issue of malnutrition among women and children with particular reference to Poshan Abhiyan was taken up for discussion in the Upper House.
The discussion on the Demands for Grants of the Ministry of Rural Development and Ministry Agriculture and Farmer's Welfare concluded with a response from the Minister. The House also discussed the Demand for Grants for Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
