Both Houses of Parliament adjourned today to meet on March 13th. With this, the first part of the Budget Session 2023 has concluded.
Rajya Sabha adjourned without taking up any business due to disruptions over a member’s suspension last week. The general discussion on the Union Budget 2023-24 concluded in both Houses last week.
In Lok Sabha, Private Members’ Business was taken up. Members discussed a private resolution on the Beautification and Modernization of the remaining stations targeted to be developed under the Adarsh Station Scheme. Taking part in the discussion, a member urged the central government to operationalise the South Coast Railway Zone on a priority basis. Another member said that the earnings from freight trains are two times the earnings from passenger trains, noting that the government can improve on both counts.

23 The Defence Minister on Monday informed Rajya Sabha that as of February 2023, 23 out of the 55 Mission Mode (MM) projects undertaken by the DRDO have been delayed. The Minister added that out of the 55 projects, the cost of 12 projects had been enhanced. Between Jan 2018 to Feb 2023, 35 MM Projects were successfully completed by the DRDO. |
45.1% Last week, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed Lok Sabha that as on 31st March, 2022, 11,250 (45.1%) primary health care centres (PHCs) in India function on a 24x7 basis. The total number of functioning PHCs in India is 24,935. |
