In Rajya Sabha, the Family Courts (Amendment) Bill, 2022 was discussed and passed amid sloganeering. The Bill, passed in Lok Sabha last week, seeks to extend the application of the 1984 Act to Nagaland and Himachal Pradesh retrospectively, and validate all actions taken by the family courts in these states thus far.
During Question Hour in Lok Sabha, a Member raised concern over the 18% GST rate on solar sources of energy at a time when the government is promoting its adoption. In his response, the Minister of New and Renewable Energy informed the House that to promote the adoption of solar energy, his Ministry along with the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas are currently developing solar cookers and working towards increasing their affordability.
