Proceedings in both Houses were adjourned repeatedly today. Protests were raised by Ministers and the Treasury benches against remarks by a Member of the Opposition. In Rajya Sabha, three more Members were suspended for the remainder of the week for misconduct. This brings the number of MPs suspended in Rajya Sabha this week to 23.

20.6 million tonnes The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change informed Rajya Sabha today about Punjab government’s action plan to control stubble burning for the paddy harvesting year 2022. According to the action plan, 20.6 million tonnes of Paddy Straw is projected to be reduced by 2023-24. In 2020, the total paddy straw generation in the state was 20.05 million tonnes. |
26,000 To a question regarding the availability of drinking water in rural areas, the Ministry of Jal Shakti informed Lok Sabha that water quality issues have been reported from 26,000 rural habitations (1.54% of all rural habitations) as of July 25. This number stood at 43,000 (2.5% of all rural habitations) in November 2021. |
