Numbers to note
1 crore
In response to a written question, the Ministry of Labour and Employment informed that over 1 crore migrant workers have returned to their home states in the wake of COVID-19.
455 days
While the Deputy Chairman position has been filled today, in Lok Sabha, the position of the Deputy Speaker has remained vacant for 455 days since the beginning of the first session of the 17th Lok Sabha. Article 93 of the Constitution states that Lok Sabha will choose two members of the House to be Speaker and Deputy Speaker at the earliest possible. This is the longest period in which the Lok Sabha has functioned without a Deputy Speaker. This surpasses the 269-day period during the 12th Lok Sabha which was the highest previously.
