Three bills were introduced in Lok Sabha today. These are:
Lok Sabha passed the Footwear Design and Development Institute Bill, 2017. The Bill seeks to establish the Footwear Design and Development Institute as an institution of national importance. Currently, there are 12 campuses under the Institute.
The Lower House also took up discussion on Sustainable Development Goals, focussing on health. Members during the debate spoke on a number of issues such as incentivising setting up of private medical colleges in deprived districts, safety of doctors, need for enhancing budget allocations etc.
In Rajya Sabha discussion on the four bills related to GST were taken up. Members raised their concerns about the classification of goods and services under the multiple tax rates, development of GST Networks, training of tax administrators, among other things.
