Both Houses of Parliament
were adjourned for the day without accomplishing any legislative business on
the first day of the Winter Session of Parliament.
The Winter Session of
Parliament started today and is scheduled to last till December 20, 2013. This
is the last but one Session of the 15th Lok Sabha before it finishes its
tenure. In the 12 sittings through the session, the government hopes to
consider and pass 29 pending Bills. The government also plans to introduce 5
new Bills. Additionally two other Bills are listed for introduction,

The Legislative Agenda
for today in the Lok Sabha included the consideration and passing of The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2013, The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances
(Amendment) Bill, 2011 and The Regional Centre for Biotechnology Bill,
2011.
The Legislative Business
for the Rajya Sabha included the introduction of The Constitution (One
Hundred and Nineteenth Amendment) Bill, 2013, which seeks to amend the
Constitution of India to give effect to the acquiring of territories by India
and transfer of certain territories to Bangladesh.
Listed for consideration
and passing in Rajya Sabha were The Constitution (Scheduled Castes) Order
(Amendment) Bill, 2013 and The Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood
and Regulation of Street Vending) Bill, 2013.
Both Lok Sabha and Rajya
Sabha were adjourned for the day after the reading of the obituary references
by the Speaker and Chairman. Both Houses will meet on December 6 at 11:00 AM.
