The Winter Session 2021 of Parliament began today amid disruptions in both the Houses.
The Farm Laws Repeal Bill, 2021 was introduced and passed in Parliament without discussion. The Bill was added to Rajya’s Sabha supplementary agenda before passing. The Bill repeals the three farm laws which were legislated during the 2020 Monsoon Session.
The two Houses adjourned for the day shortly after without taking up any other legislative business. The Assisted Reproductive Technology (Reg.) Bill, 2020 in Lok Sabha and the Dam Safety Bill, 2019 in Rajya Sabha were listed for consideration and passing but could not be taken up.
Before adjourning, a motion to suspend twelve Members of Rajya Sabha for the remainder of the session was moved and passed in the Upper House. They were suspended for not observing Parliamentary conduct on the last day of the Monsoon Session.
