Lok Sabha started the proceedings today with the introduction of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (Recognition of Property Rights of Residents in Unauthorised Colonies) Bill, 2019. The Bill grants property rights to residents in unauthorised colonies in Delhi. The government also introduced Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu (Merger of Union Territories) Bill, 2019.
The National Institute of Design Amendment Bill, 2019 was discussed and passed later in the day. The House then took up the ban on e-cigarettes Bill for discussion and passage.
In Rajya Sabha, discussions on the Transgender Persons Bill continued. Several Ministers asked the Bill to be sent to a Select Committee for further examination. MP Tiruchi Siva called for a division and demanded a recorded vote. The motion to send to a Rajya Sabha Select Committee was defeated and the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Bill, 2019 was passed.
The House then took up the Chit Funds (Amendment) Bill, 2019 for discussion and passage. Rajya Sabha adjourned without passing the Bill.
